Carson City, Nev. – The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is pleased to announce the appointment of Volker J. Huber as Special Envoy to Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the State of Nevada.

In this honorary and non-compensated role, Huber will support Nevada’s international economic development efforts by strengthening relationships with business leaders, trade organizations, investors, and government stakeholders throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland — an area known in international business as the DACH region. The designation is intended to further Nevada’s strategic objectives related to foreign direct investment, industry recruitment, innovation partnerships, and international business expansion into the state.

“This designation reflects Nevada’s continued commitment to building meaningful international partnerships that create jobs and diversify our economy,” said GOED Executive Director Tom Burns. “Volker will play an important role in helping showcase Nevada’s strengths in innovation, workforce development, infrastructure, and business-friendly policy to companies and organizations throughout Europe.”

Huber, a German-American dual citizen, brings over 20 years of international business and leadership experience to the role. Two decades ago, the Economic Development Association of Western Nevada (EDAWN) helped support the relocation of Huber’s first U.S.-based company to Nevada, a decision driven by the state’s favorable business climate, logistical advantages, and long-term growth potential. Huber has since founded multiple companies in Nevada, including Access2America, an organization that helps European companies gain traction in the U.S. market. In addition to his business leadership, Huber taught international management at the University of Nevada, Reno, and currently mentors international startups through the German Accelerator and the NATO DIANA program.

The Special Envoy designation is advisory and strategic in nature, supporting Nevada’s broader international economic development and trade objectives.
