CARSON CITY, Nev. – Governor Joe Lombardo announced today that $3,099,545 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) have been awarded to 7 projects in rural Nevada.

Nevada’s CDBG-awarded projects for 2026 include:

  • $603,750 to assist with the upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the City of Ely.
  • $750,000 to assist with the Serpa Sewer Lift Station Rebuild in City of Fallon.
  • $500,000 to assist with Sewer Improvements in the City of Lovelock.
  • $513,120 to assist with the Tuscarora Water Tank Replacement in Elko County.
  • $557,675 to assist with the Goldfield Community Center in Esmeralda County.
  • $100,000 to assist with the Goldfield Firehouse Water Seal project in Esmeralda County.
  • $75,000 to assist with the update to the Environmental Review for the Pahrump Fairgrounds in Nye County.

“Strong communities start with reliable infrastructure,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “These investments will deliver critical upgrades to water systems, public facilities, and community resources across rural Nevada. By partnering with local governments, we’re making sure communities have the tools they need to grow, attract investment, and serve residents for years to come.”

Since 1982, when the State began administration of the program, over $110 million has been awarded to rural Nevada communities. The CDBG program enables local governments to undertake a wide range of activities intended to create suitable living environments, provide affordable housing, and create economic opportunities, primarily for people of low and moderate income. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development oversees the program, and the Rural Community Development Division of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development administers the program for the State of Nevada.

“We’re proud to work alongside communities across rural Nevada to ensure these CDBG dollars are invested where they’ll have the greatest local impact,” said GOED’s CDBG Program Administrator Jessica Sanders. “Every award represents a community’s vision for its future and our commitment to helping make that vision a reality.”
