North Las Vegas, Nev. – The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), in partnership with the City of North Las Vegas, the North Las Vegas Library District, and The Just One Project, has launched the first coordinated implementation of its Individual Career Mapping program in North Las Vegas.
The ICM program began its first six-week cohort in North Las Vegas on April 3 at the Dolores Huerta Resource Center, a community hub operated by the city that provides free bilingual services and information in English and Spanish.
“The bilingual start of ICM at the Dolores Huerta Resource Center reflects our commitment to meeting communities with intention, respect, and access,” said Tammy Westergard, GOED’s senior workforce development librarian-in-residence. “This work is brought to life through the ICM leadership team, especially Jahairy Rivera-Campos, whose bilingual navigation ensures every participant can fully engage, reflect, and move forward with confidence.”
The rollout in North Las Vegas of the ICM program, which has continued gathering momentum across Nevada and beyond, reflects a coordinated effort between state, local, and nonprofit partners to expand access to workforce navigation resources to residents across the Las Vegas metropolitan area.
“The ICM program reflects our commitment to meeting community members where they are,” said Forrest Lewis, director of the North Las Vegas Library District. “We’re proud to partner with organizations that share our vision of making career opportunities accessible to everyone in North Las Vegas.”
ICM addresses gaps in labor market literacy, which is defined as the ability to understand job trends, skill requirements, and career pathways in a changing economy. The program supports participants in identifying career options, evaluating training opportunities, and taking next steps toward employment or credential attainment.
The Just One Project, a Las Vegas-based nonprofit that provides food assistance and supportive services, operates the Dolores Huerta Resource Center in collaboration with the City of North Las Vegas.
“This initiative aligns directly with our mission to build pathways to self-sufficiency,” said Serafin Calvo-Arreola, director of the Dolores Huerta Resource Center. “By integrating bilingual virtual reality Individual Career Mapping into our programming, we are strengthening workforce development efforts and creating scalable, equitable access to career exploration in fields that are in high demand in our community. This kind of innovation creates real opportunity in an immersive way.”
