Las Vegas, Nev. –The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), through its Film Nevada division, hosted a special screening last week of the season five finale of Universal Television and HBO’s acclaimed television series “Hacks,” followed by a panel discussion highlighting the workforce and economic impact of the film and television production in Nevada.
“Hacks,” which was filmed in Las Vegas and received a tax credit from Film Nevada, has become one of television’s most celebrated comedies while showcasing Las Vegas to audiences around the world. According to production representatives, the fifth season employed over 1,100 Nevada residents, supported nearly 300 businesses across the state, and injected millions into the Nevada economy.
The screening event featured a panel moderated by Film Nevada Deputy Director Danette Tull and included “Hacks” Executive Producer Morgan Sackett, Universal Television Group Senior Vice President of Production Michael Swanson, and Film Nevada Director Kim Spurgeon. Panelists discussed workforce development opportunities, local hiring, production spending, and the long-term economic benefits generated when film and television projects come to Nevada.
“‘Hacks’ is one example of how film and television productions can deliver meaningful economic benefits while promoting Nevada’s unique communities and landscapes,” said Spurgeon. “Our team works closely with productions to identify locations, connect them with local crew and vendors, and help ensure successful filming experiences throughout the state.”
During calendar year 2025, 337 productions spent $93.3 million in Nevada. Film Nevada helped these productions find film-friendly locations, connect with local crew and services, and navigate the logistics of filming throughout the state.
During the event, Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley presented the production with custom “Deborah Vance Way” street signs in honor of the show’s iconic character. Mayor Berkley also proclaimed May 28, 2026, as “Hacks Day,” honoring the show’s connection to Las Vegas and its role in bringing the city to audiences around the globe.
“Las Vegas continues to capture the world’s imagination as a one-of-a-kind location for the film and television industry,” Mayor Berkley said. “‘Hacks’ has brought international attention to Las Vegas showcasing our city and its unique character. The series underscores the importance of entertainment as a driver of economic development, job creation and community investment.”
