CARSON CITY, Nev. – Carli Smith has been appointed the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Director of Communications. Smith succeeds Gregory Bortolin who has accepted a similar position at the City of North Las Vegas.
“Carli has done a terrific job as Manager of Digital Media for GOED for more than four years, most recently guiding an effort to complete the agencies rebranding which also included a long overdue redesign of GOED’s website,” said Tom Burns, GOED Executive Director. “We’re thankful for Greg’s service and wish him well in his next endeavor. Greg played a key role in communications during GOED’s assistance to thousands of Nevada small businesses during the pandemic and I’m certain his experience will serve the City of North Las Vegas well.”
Stepping into the role of Director of Communications is Carli Smith, formerly GOED’s Digital Media Manager. Smith brings a decade of experience in digital communications, having played a significant part in expanding GOED’s online presence and engagement. Since being hired by GOED in 2019, Smith has worked alongside Bortolin to ensure the agency’s messaging and direction aligned with state initiatives. The pair also oversaw a successful agency rebranding and website redesign that was launched earlier this month.
“I am honored to take on the responsibility as Director of Communications at GOED,” Smith said. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation laid out by Greg and making sure GOED puts Nevada’s best foot forward in attracting new companies to the state and creating good jobs.”
