LAS VEGAS, Nev. – In the ongoing pandemic recovery effort occurring throughout Nevada, Governor Sisolak is joining with the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) to host JobFest 2021, packed with resources and support services from skills training to childcare.

The JobFest takes place on Tuesday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall, 3150 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89109.

Free parking and admission. The Las Vegas Convention Center Tesla Loop will be operating.

More than 110 employers are expected to hire for more than 10,000 job openings. Dust off your resume and dress to impress as many will be hiring on the spot.

“Every day, more employers are signing up to join our JobFest – they are ready to help us put Nevadans to work. There is no priority more important for me than Nevada’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Governor Steve Sisolak. “Our State agencies are focused on creating high-paying job opportunities and connecting Nevadans to the skills and resources they need for these jobs.”

Nevada leads the nation in hiring and there are thousands of open jobs in Southern Nevada, according to federal statistics analyzed by DETR. Some job sectors are slower to return to full staff than others, which means now is the time for Nevadans to “Skill Up” to a new career. With partners across the state, there will be many ways to learn about financial assistance.

“Clark County has the highest unemployment rate in the state, and we’re ensuring that job seekers can find employment that works for their family and lifestyle. Right now there are many opportunities for workers to re-tool for life-long meaningful work,” said DETR Director Elisa Cafferata.

Many people who have been out of the job market for months may need to brush up on their skills and freshen up their resumes. Nevada JobConnect staff and other agencies will be on hand with resources and services to get you the skills you need to stand out and step into the right job.

“The availability of jobs is a true indication that Nevada’s economy is rebounding,” said GOED Executive Director Michael Brown. “An excellent resource for those looking for jobs is nv.emsiskills.com. This online tool not only lists job openings, but it also helps job seekers learn what certifications they need to meet certain qualifications.”

The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with Immunize Nevada and will be on hand providing COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, and flu shots. COVID vaccines are now approved for kids as young as 5, and many employers are now requiring vaccination as a condition of employment.

Other community partners providing resources alongside DETR and GOED at JobFest include Workforce Connections, Veteran’s Services, Nevada Partners, Culinary Health Fund, Help of Southern Nevada, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, Dress for Success, Urban League, Legal Aid of Southern Nevada and more.
