RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is hosting a free workshop this week in Reno for small businesses to learn the information they need to compete
for government contracts with the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County.
The “Where’s the Contract?” workshop will be held in Reno on Friday, Oct. 4, from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the Washoe County Government Center, 1001 E. Ninth St. Ranjini Zucker, RTC of Washoe County’s Procurement and Contracts Manager, will discuss how to do business with the government agency and provide critical information small businesses need to get on the path to securing government contracts with the RTC.
“It is critically important that the state continues to support Nevada’s small businesses with timely and worthwhile resources to afford them every opportunity to succeed,” Gov. Steve Sisolak said. “Small businesses have an immense impact on our economy employing more than 480,000 Nevadans, so I have made it a priority of my administration to do everything we can to support the continued success of small businesses.”
GOED’s Nevada Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) partnered with the Nevada Small Business Development Center for the event. Nevada PTAC simplifies the process of competing for government contracts for small businesses by cutting through the red tape and connecting businesses with government contract opportunities through networking events, bid matching, proposal review and other training.
“By helping businesses with free workshops and seminars, GOED helps stimulate new job creation
and supports economic growth,” said Interim Executive Director Kristopher Sanchez. “Small businesses help create a strong economy in cities and towns causing a ripple effect to strengthen our state’s economy.”
Attendees are asked to register for the free event by Wednesday, Oct. 2, online and bring a one-page document of the company’s capabilities and business cards. The next “Where’s the Contract?” workshop will be on Dec. 6 in Reno.
