LAS VEGAS – The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is hosting a free workshop next week for small businesses to learn the information they need to be competitive for government contracts with the City of Las Vegas.
The “Where’s the Contract?” workshop will be held in Las Vegas on Friday, Nov. 1, from 7:30 a.m.
until 9:30 a.m. in the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Pkwy. City of Las Vegas Purchasing and Contracts Manager Edward O’Neal will discuss how to do business with the city and provide critical information small businesses need to pursue government contracts with the city.
“Nevada is home to more than a quarter million small businesses that employ more than 480,000 workers and are an integral part of their communities,” Gov. Steve Sisolak said. “My administration remains committed to supporting small businesses and helping them explore partnership opportunities with local government is part of that strategy. When small businesses thrive, so does Nevada’s economy.”
GOED’s Nevada Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) partnered with the Nevada Small Business Development Center for the event. Nevada PTAC simplifies the process of competing for government contracts for small businesses by connecting businesses with government contract opportunities through networking events, bid matching, proposal review and other training.
“By supporting small businesses with free workshops and seminars to foster their success, GOED helps stimulate new job creation and supports economic growth,” said Interim Executive Director Kristopher Sanchez. “It is vitally important to keep local contracts with Nevada businesses to ensure the strength of our economy.”
Attendees are asked to register for the free event by Wednesday, Oct. 30, online and bring a one-page document of the company’s capabilities and business cards. The next “Where’s the Contract?” workshop in Las Vegas will be on Jan. 24.
